ICEfaces WebMC on GlassFish
« ICEfaces at WebBuilder2.0 | Main | Ajax with Spring Web Flow and ICEfaces at TheSpringExperience »WebMC is an ICEfaces demo application that lets you host a slide presentation over the internet. Really, it's more than a demo, because it's a very useful piece of software, potentially saving you money on WebEX (you can present your slides and host the audio over Skype, all for free). The complete source code is available, so you can host the slideshow server securely within your corporate firewall.
The latest build has two notable features:
- PowerPoint conversion is now performed. Besides accepting .zip files containing slide images, WebMC now also directly accepts PowerPoint files. To benefit from this feature you must be running WebMC on MacOS X with Microsoft PowerPoint installed. Alas, the implementation of this feature required a detour into AppleScript and VisualBasic (but Apple must be complimented on the integration of AppleScript with the Unix shell).
- GlassFish Grizzly Comet is enabled. This means that all your friends and colleagues can join the slideshow without a thread catastrophe on the server. GlassFish provides a highly scalable way to deploy ICEfaces applications.
Oh, and one more thing. It works on the iPhone.
